The BilgeBuster® is a specific use product designed to be permanently mounted in the bilge. In operation the unit will continuously produce ozone (03) from the oxygen (02) in the ambient air.
Ozone does not cover-up odors. Ozone oxidizes or chemically destroys the bonds that hold molecules together. When these bonds are broken, the odor producing molecules are rendered odor-free. Continuous operation of the unit is recommended as the production of odors in the bilge is generally continuous.
The BilgeBuster® is designed to create a blanket of ozone that will prevent odors from the bilge from reaching the living and berthing spaces above. The level of ozone emitted by the BilgeBuster will NOT negatively effect any components in the bilge area (including belts, hoses, electronics, etc.).
The ozone produced by the unit will neutralize the odors from stagnant bilge water, holding tanks, mold spores, mildew, musty wood rot, petroleum spills and fumes, as well as fiber-glass outgassing of formaldehyde. It will also inhibit the growth of bacteria and some fungi. Inadequate ventilation in most bilges creates the ideal environment for the growth of mold spores.
